The Aachen Observatory is one of the astronomical observation facilities traditionally known as "public observatories", of which there are only 27 in Germany. Their task is to impart basic astronomical knowledge to a broad section of the population outside of university educational and research institutions. When the sky is clear, all visitors can observe selected celestial objects with the large telescope. In cold weather, please bring warm clothing. If the sky is overcast, an interesting illustrated lecture will be offered as an introduction to astronomy and the dome will be visited with the telescope.
Participation is only possible after prior registration.
