Guided tours: Fabric stories - About globally moving materials

Fashion moves us all - every day! But fashion is not just fashion. "Fast fashion" means that clothes are designed at lightning speed and sold cheaply - but often at the expense of people and the environment, especially in countries of the Global South. The exhibition was created in collaboration with the Akademie Mode&Design (AMD) in Munich and has already visited various locations in Germany as a traveling exhibition. It aims to do one thing above all: encourage people to think and motivate them to experience fashion more consciously.

From Friday, August 29 to Sunday, September 21, 2025, the exhibition "Stoffgeschichten - Über global bewegte Materialien" will open its doors at Villa Metzler (next to the Museum Angewandte Kunst). Free guided tours invite visitors to find out more about the global entanglements of cotton, viscose & co.

The guided tour on Thursday, September 18, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. is aimed specifically at people on parental leave. Babies and small children are welcome. This will be followed by a workshop for children's clothing from 12:15 to 13:15. Materials are available. If you wish, you can bring broken/soiled baby/children's clothes.

There will be a clothes swap pole on site: bring well-preserved and freshly washed clothes, swap them and be happy!
