Mehrweg MUC invites you to a panel discussion for a reusable turnaround in Munich
on September 12, 2025
from 18:00 to 20:30
at the FAT CAT in Kellerstraße 8a, 81667 Munich (room "Labor")
Munich is by no means a pioneer when it comes to reusable packaging
Around 42,000 tons of lightweight packaging are produced in the state capital every year, with 190,000 disposable coffee cups a day in the catering sector alone in 2021(AWM). We are therefore still a long way from the goal of a "Zero Waste City", as Mayor Dieter Reiter proclaimed in 2019.
Figures from 2024 also show that current laws fall short: Only 11% of Munich's businesses meet the requirements of the reusable offer obligation. The use of reusable packaging for to-go orders is less than 10% in most cases(rehab republic e. V.).
Dieter Reiter and now also the Bavarian state government reject a packaging tax based on the Tübingen model. So what measures can be taken to promote the urgently needed reusable turnaround in Munich?
We cordially invite you to discuss this with our panel guests:
