GAEA SCHOETERS | "The Gift"

Gaea Schoeters, born in 1976, is a Flemish author, journalist, librettist and screenwriter. In 2012, she won the Jan Wauters Grand Prize for her creative use of language. She was awarded the Sabam for Culture literary prize for "Trophy". Her novel "Trophäe" was published by Zsolnay in 2024 and "Das Geschenk" in 2025, both translated from Dutch by Lisa Mensing.

After "Trophäe", this is Gaea Schoeters' new novel - about the inescapable global questions from a European perspective Elephants in the middle of the big city, and there are more and more of them. What's happening here? The Chancellor soon realizes that the animals have not escaped from the zoo, but are a gift from the President of Botswana.
