A theater project by Hoppenbank e.V. as part of the prison action days
"Don't go to prison!" - this sentence is probably as deeply buried in many people's memories as the associated Monopoly game in the cupboard. The unmistakable request on the action card serves as a punishment: Go to prison. Go straight there. It is also common practice in our constitutional state. Deserved punishment or just bad luck in life?
"Don't go to prison!" invites you to engage creatively and playfully with the topics of punishment and prison. Based on the thoughts and experiences of the participants in the theater project, a collage of stories and performances is created. The audience not only watches, but can also become active in this theater game. What new images emerge from the exchange? Can we overcome mental barriers and stubborn prejudices?
About the participants:
Behind "Don't go off!" are people with and without prison experience, who have been exploring their experiences and prejudices on the subject of prison through conversations, theater exercises, literary and biographical writing since January 2025. The project was always open to new people and no previous experience was required. Some came regularly, others only once. All of them have something to tell.
Accessibility:
All public areas of the Schwankhalle are at ground level and accessible without steps.
There is no seating in the hall during the concert, but it is possible to sit in the stands. Please contact our evening staff if you require alternative seating. You can enter and leave the hall at any time during the concert.
There are three different toilets: a barrier-free toilet that can also be used by wheelchair users, a toilet with 3 toilet cubicles and a toilet with urinals and a toilet cubicle.
You can also specify individual requirements such as specific seats, early boarding or an additional ticket for an accompanying person when purchasing or reserving your ticket.
