Gemeinsam Zukunft bauen - Informationsveranstaltung zu genossenschaftlichem Wohnprojekt in Euskirchen

The innovative werk&wiese quarter with a mix of residential, commercial and retail space is being built in the immediate vicinity of Euskirchen's main railway station. A cooperative housing project is to be developed on the first construction site of the new quarter. It offers space for people who are looking for affordable, sustainable and neighbourhood-oriented living space - and want to play an active role in shaping it. A public information event will be held for all interested parties on November 4, 2025 at 6 p.m. at the Geschwister-Graf-Gesamtschule Euskirchen, where those responsible will present the project goals, the planning status and opportunities for participation.

The cooperative project in the werk&wiese district is aimed at people who want to live and work together. The residential complex consisting of three buildings with around 175 residential units is to be built using a timber-hybrid construction method - resource-saving, energy-efficient and sustainable. The focus is on social mixing, neighborly coexistence and participation in development.

Aspects such as communal spaces, sharing offers, sustainable mobility concepts and social infrastructure also play a central role.

The project is being implemented by DIE WOHNKOMPANIE NRW GmbH and Berlin-based UTB Projektmanagement GmbH, which has already developed numerous cooperative projects. GLS Bank from Bochum is taking care of the financing. "UTB has been developing neighbourhood-oriented community housing projects at cost price for 30 years and would now also like to offer the first cooperative-oriented housing project in timber hybrid construction in Euskirchen," explains Thomas Bestgen, UTB Managing Director.

"The information event will present how the cooperative project is set to grow, what other forms of housing are possible on the entire construction site, such as building groups or condominiums, and how interested parties can become part of a new community themselves," explains Katrin Eming, Managing Director of Wohnkompanie NRW. After the welcome address and a brief presentation of the werk&wiese district, a "market of opportunities" invites visitors to exchange ideas at themed stands - for example on architecture and timber construction, financing and funding, founding cooperatives or building groups, communal living and mobility concepts. Best-practice projects from Weimar and Berlin, among others, will also be presented.

In addition to information and inspiration, the event will focus on personal exchange. "We want to show people that building and living together is not only possible, but a win-win situation for everyone," says Benedikt Altrogge, Housing Sector Coordinator at GLS Bank.
