Georg Wilke - Ein anderer Blick | Fotoausstellung

In the organizer's words:

Georg Wilke is primarily interested in the aesthetics of the everyday, even the banal. For him, everyday life therefore naturally includes motifs from the world of TV. For him, a "different view" also means taking pictures that some people would not take or would take differently. He has no interest in serving established photographic viewing habits or fulfilling standards of "beauty" - which, however, as the exhibition proves, by no means excludes the possibility that the results can be "beautiful". Technically, he works with distortions and even "glitches".

On display are mainly photos in large and medium formats, which are clustered according to areas of everyday life. A "ladder to heaven" symbolically thematizes the current wars.

Although, in his opinion, it must always be answered by the viewer, Wilke deals with the question of "meaning" or the "right" interpretation, which is always posed in art, as an example in the margins of the exhibition. For two "explanatory pictures", in which personnel from the past Ampel coalition can be seen, he sketches his view of the depicted scenes in "photographic notes".

Georg Wilke photographs and writes short prose. For a long time, he conducted professional research into spatial mobility.
