On 04.09.2025, the new series Global Pott - Musik im Salon starts with a concert by Helicopter at Kunsthaus Essen.

Helicopter is an energetic trio that takes off at the interface of jazz, punk, free improvisation and raw sound chaos. With Peter Van Huffel (saxophone), Roland Fidezius (bass) and Simon Camatta (drums), the band combines the burning fire of the Berlin underground scene with the creative dynamism of the Ruhr region.

Born out of a spontaneous meeting at the Rabbit Hole Theater in Essen in January 2023, Helicopter is an explosive fusion of melody, noise, groove and fearless improvisation. While Peter and Roland - longtime collaborators in thrash-jazz trio Gorilla Mask - push their sound into uncharted sonic territory, Simon, a driving force in NRW's avant-garde scene, brings his unmistakable rhythmic intensity to the table. The result: an unpredictable journey - sometimes turbulent, always electrifying.

Global Pott brings the world to Kunsthaus Essen: Every first Thursday of the month, international sound cultures meet experimental formats, improvised sound spaces and unusual ensemble line-ups. The new concert series presents musicians from the Ruhr region and beyond, whose roots and sounds are as diverse as the region itself. The program evolved from the established chamber music series Kunsthaus Salon and has now been expanded to include global perspectives and new musical approaches.
