When Roger Willemsen died of cancer in February 2016 at the age of 60, one of Germany's leading intellectual voices fell tragically silent far too soon. To mark his 70th birthday, his friends Joachim Król and Franziska Hölscher joined forces with Martin Klett for the new stage program "Momentum" to commemorate the important publicist and subtle observer. Excerpts from Willemsen's very personal book about the decisive moments in life enter into a dialog with composers whose music tells of eruptions, longings and contradictions in our lives. In this way, moments of atmospheric intensity are created in the spirit of Willemsen, who so aptly said: "Life cannot be prolonged, but we can condense it."
