Glück und Segen. Thematische Führung zum Barbaratag

As part of an exciting guided tour, participants learn more about the veneration of Saint Barbara - patron saint of miners and symbol of hope and light. Afterwards, Barbara's wheat is sown together - a traditional ritual that symbolizes good luck and blessings for the coming year. Traditionally, the green wheat decorates the festive table on Christmas Eve. The celebration of St. Barbara and the associated customs of the miners have been submitted as a multinational nomination for UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage. Poland is the lead country, with Germany, Luxembourg and other countries also involved. The celebration of St. Barbara and the living traditions of mining are regarded as important expressions of cultural identity in the regions involved - and as a unifying element across national borders.
