Gospel of the Blues & Dean Bowman

When Dean Bowman starts to sing, it usually only takes a few seconds before his audience is hanging on his every word. With a lot of melodiousness and soul in his voice, with shades of blues and jazz elegance, he takes on songs that are usually belted out in church and which he literally describes as the musical cradle of faith. Dean Bowman's interpretations of well-known gospel hymns melt even agnostics and atheists. Hallelujah.

Incidentally, the New York singer promises us more than just a mixture of gospel, blues, soul, jazz and rhythm & blues for his concert. The evening's repertoire will also include funk pieces and songs by Leon Thomas and Rahsaan Roland Kirk.

Dean Bowman is one of the most revered singers on the New York scene and is known for his versatility, having already made music with the Screaming Headless Torsos or clarinettist Don Byron.
