The world is becoming more unjust every day, the web of political and economic dependencies ever denser: against this backdrop, Hagen Rether brings up string-pullers, straw men and scapegoats. He turns the so-called social consensus on its head and the systemic issues upside down. Rether's up to three-and-a-half-hour program, which is as funny as it is painful, infects the audience with two dangerous viruses: dissatisfaction with simple explanations and the realization that we all have the power to change. LOVE, which has been the constant title of the constantly mutating program for years, does not appear in it, at least not in the form of hearts that find each other - and the music of the versatile pianist is romantic at best. But what becomes visible in his brilliant plea for compassion is the human love of a cabaret artist who still believes in enlightenment and the possibility of turning back from the brink.
