Crashing beats, jazzy swing, inexhaustible imagination and unheard-of delicacy: This is hardcore chamber music, radically free and improvised to the point. The fact that there is a certain nonchalance and humor is not neglected is due to the wealth of experience of the three protagonists, who no longer have to prove anything to anyone. Varner is without doubt one of the very best in his field, not only in Germany, Hengst (known to Esseners as curator of the JOE Festival, among other things) can hardly be surpassed in terms of power and ingenuity and Töpp bundles the ideas of his partners with almost compositional consistency. Clearly a masterful concert for the edge of the chair!
"The finest tones from perfectly mastered instruments in beautiful harmony alternate with brute acoustic storms and thunderstorms of sound. Yes, free improvisation can also be fun." - Elmar Petzold, jazz-fun
"The differentiated gestures of this freely improvised music confirm it as an artistic genre in which especially those who have already passed through other musical stages of existence can convince." - Stefan Pieper, nrwjazz
"Gitaarklanken uit de onderwereld die snel gecounterd worden door opborrelende trombonegeluiden uit een al even geheimzinnige schimmenwereld..." - Georges Tonla Briquet, jazzhalo (Brussels)
Christofer Varner - trombone, conch shell, voice
Thorsten Töpp - electric guitar, cort, electronics
