His name says it all: as one of the leading violists of our time, Lawrence Power sets strong accents for the expansion of the viola repertoire both as a soloist and as a chamber musician. Together with his long-time duo partner, the versatile pianist and conductor Simon Crawford-Phillips, Power has created a program that presents an exciting cross-section of original and arranged works for viola and piano, with a special focus on the music of English composers. Thomas Adès and Mark-Anthony Turnage are two innovative contemporaries whose works Power and Crawford-Phillips have also premiered several times in other constellations.

The concert will be recorded by SWR Kultur and broadcast in the lunchtime concert on April 14, 2026 from 1.05 pm.
