Helge Lien Trio: Nordic Jazz with Depth and Drive

With instinctive aplomb, Helge Lien and his musicians have developed their own version of chamber jazz, characterized by harmonically complex, even somnambulistic timbres. Building on Bill Evans' lyrical power and the intoxicatingly melancholic playing of Esbjörn Svensson, Helge Lien creates multi-layered atmospheric images, which he performs with a light hand and in constant dialog with his virtuoso partners, bassist Johannes Eick and drummer Knut Aalefjaer. The Helge Lien Trio won the Norwegian "Grammy Award" (Spellemannprisen) for the album "Hello Troll" back in 2008; it was also nominated in 2002 ("Spiral Circle"), 2011 ("Natsukashii") and 2017 ("Guzuguzu").
