»Here is there« von Ioannis Mandafounis

Guest performance by the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company // Choreography: Ioannis Mandafounis

Could human life be completely different from what we know? Cloning, time travel, immortality, teleportation - science fiction poses this question in ever new variations. What makes people human? How do they live together? What is changeable and what is not?
Each fictional scenario leads to its own ethical questions, which always reflect the ambivalences of real life. Inspired by such approaches, Ioannis Mandafounis approaches the limits of our imagination in his next ensemble work for the big stage.
The project is part of the longer-term development Mandafounis is pursuing as Artistic Director of the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company. The ensemble works on the basis of his methodology, which enables the dancers to create a new choreography live on stage from their bodies, movements and actions in every performance and every moment.

In addition to this focus on improvisation, Mandafounis repeatedly undertakes unusual experiments in his productions: whether he combines improvised dance with narrative dramaturgies, whether he focuses on collaboration with dance students or whether he allows the audience to get very close to the ensemble in a changing performance with different stations - "Here is there" will also be part of this exploration of the boundaries of what a dance evening can be.
