Traders, manufacturers and artisans present useful, beautiful and traditional items made of wood in Passau's city center: wickerwork, birdhouses, brushes, barrels, wood carvings, nativity figures, picture frames, fretwork, furniture, wooden toys and much more.

The pedestrian zone offers numerous market stalls and, of course, the local stores. And anyone looking for a Christmas present or two for themselves or their loved ones is sure to find something here.

The wooden markets in Passau have a long tradition and were first mentioned in the 16th century. After interruptions, a timber market was held three times a year in 1822 due to the high demand from the population. From 1870, the timber market was held in conjunction with the small and large pig market during Advent. The pig market disappeared after the Second World War. Since then, the traditional timber market has been held independently in Passau city center.
