HOTEL RIMINI

In the organizer's words:

Support: MARLENA KÄTHE

"Elegant chanson pop with strings and horns, a bit like Element of Crime, but with lyrics for the Tinder generation."
-Die Zeit

"Not only the cover of this EP is beautiful. I highly recommend the brilliant music of Hotel Rimini."
- Jan Müller (Tocotronic)

"There are not many groups in the German music world that can compose and play songs with such a line-up. Stylistically, the music draws partly from the past and yet the songs seem contemporary."
- Deutschlandfunk Kultur

The musical roots of the six-piece Leipzig band HOTEL RIMINI can be described as widely ramified even without botanical expertise. Electric guitar, double bass and drums mingle with cello and violin, piano and acoustic guitar meet effects units, a French horn used sporadically or an aged Casio. The German lyrics by singer Julius Forster are dedicated to the crocodile tears of urban affluence problematics, coming to terms with the past on public transport or failing to cope with the brutalities of everyday life.

In the summer of 2022, they released their first EP "Die Zeit schlägt mich tot, aber ich schlag zurück", which met with a very positive media response. This was followed by concerts across Germany in small clubs and at various festivals. Her debut album will be released this fall.

Support: MARLENA KÄTHE

In the best sense of the word, Marlena Käthe has outgrown her time and yet is ahead of it, sonically idiosyncratic and lyrically adept. A few years ago, she conquered the German music scene with her EP "AGED" (2021). With visceral songs that range from art-pop to dark folk, a voice that is as fragile as it is versatile and unconventional electro-acoustic arrangements, the young artist has been inspiring an ever-growing audience ever since.

At the interface between ethereal folklore, intimate contemporary poetry and modern production methods, her songs are like poems for a time that threatens to break under its contradictions. It is music that offers refuge from all the difficulties we face every day. The influences range from Emiliana Torrini to Hope Sandoval to the eclectic dream diaries of Björk - this is undoubtedly evident in her work. Just as certain, however, is Marlena Käthe's unique musical language, which she has already mastered and consistently developed further on her new EP "AMOR" (2025).
