"House of Banksy Mannheim": The new pop-up exhibition about the street art superstar!

The creators of the successful exhibition "The Mystery of Banksy - A Genius Mind", which captivated visitors in Heidelberg (halle02 in the freight station) in 2021 and which has now established itself as the most popular and therefore most successful show about the street art superstar in the world with over 3 million visitors worldwide, are now coming to Mannheim for the first time! And from 19 September 2025 with the new pop-up exhibition "House of Banksy Mannheim - An Unauthorized Exhibition"!

In Kunststraße 5-6 (N 7, formerly Saturn), in the heart of Mannheim's city center, an unprecedented presentation of over 150 motifs by the celebrated artist will be shown on an area of over 2,000 square meters. This makes the exhibition, which has already attracted almost 350,000 visitors at its first three venues in Munich, Hamburg and Leipzig, probably the most comprehensive and popular exhibition of Banksy's work in Europe to date and clearly stands out from all previous presentations of his art!

Graffiti, photographs, sculptures, video installations and prints on various materials such as canvas, fine art paper, wood, aluminum, plaster, concrete and brick have been reproduced and compiled especially for this exhibition. In an elaborate and unique setting, visitors are given a comprehensive insight into the oeuvre of this exceptional artist. This homage and the picture installations on display are not authorized by the artist himself due to his anonymous status. Around 80% of all the graffiti and motifs on display are now hardly or no longer accessible in their original form. They have been removed, torn down, destroyed, sprayed over or torn out of the walls and then auctioned off for a lot of money. Some of them, especially his serigraphs, are now privately owned or in the possession of art dealers.

The no less impressive reproductions, which are produced and sprayed live on site by an internationally renowned team of graffiti artists especially for each exhibition, allow the viewer to follow in Banksy's footsteps and make his art comprehensible and tangible in an unprecedented way and at close quarters. "We want to make the works and, above all, the message behind each of his actions and works accessible to the public again and point out how important it is to protect the few remaining originals in public spaces. For the reasons outlined above, it is not possible to stage an exhibition like this with originals on this scale," says Oliver Forster, the producer of the exhibition.

The exhibition "House of Banksy - An Unauthorized Exhibition" brings the message of this artistic genius to a wider audience without having to travel far. Here you can visit Banksy's most famous street art works in one place and encounter his exploration of various hot topics such as war, xenophobia, police violence, people on the run, capitalism, global warming, violence against women, CCTV and the coronavirus pandemic in a completely different way . A major Austrian daily newspaper wrote: "A Banksy exhibition is like a spray-painted reflection of society" - and a Banksy exhibition is always topical and in tune with the zeitgeist. Banksy wants to inspire and touch people with his art, but at the same time polarize them and make them think. There is no other artist like him, who always manages to attract media attention with his sometimes spectacular and well thought-out actions. He does not use his art to draw attention to himself or his latest work, but to draw attention to grievances and focal points that we are all too happy to turn a blind eye to. The locations are deliberately and carefully selected by him. This is probably one of the reasons why Banksy is undoubtedly one of the most important artists of our time. The media and experts often refer to him as the modern Robin Hood.

This extraordinary art experience is curated by Virginia Jean. The young British-born, Berlin-based curator and gallery owner is a versatile designer and unchanging creative. After working for many years in the classical art market, she has created numerous projects and exhibitions in the field of street art. Banksy has always been a great influence and inspiration in her life due to her background and passion for creativity and free art as a means of communication. She is an expert on his works and a specialist in the street art industry.
