Forbidden love, tragic fates and a twisted conflict that destroys everything - I Capuleti e i Montecchi tells the story of Romeo and Juliet from the perspective of romantic opera. In the bitter rivalry between their families, Romeo and Juliet find themselves caught up in a maelstrom of passion, hope and misfortune. Bellini's ideal of music that "expresses the word most intimately" is full of exquisitely beautiful melodies and great dramatic tension. This closeness and intimacy becomes even more authentic in a concert performance and brings the heartbreaking suffering of the lovers into focus without embellishment.
