I AM BULGARIAN?!

In her solo, Vidina Popov, an ensemble member at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin, interweaves interviews, documentaries and encounters to create a fast-paced and entertaining examination of the concept of "homeland".

She questions its loss, the clichés associated with it and the experiences of arriving in a new space. With biting humor, she shows how deceptive assumptions about others and oneself can be and exposes common mechanisms. The facets that she evokes range from the young Romnja who wants to become a superstar in Vienna, to the intellectual who only discovers pride in his old homeland in Austria, to a narrator who jumps back and forth between worlds.

A one-woman show with a mix of theater and stand-up. With live music and lots of Balkan soul. Hoppa!
