Three generations of a Dutch family confront the essential questions of life: What makes life worth living? And how do I face up to death? "Idyllic" is a comedy-drama that walks the fine line between life and death, savoring every second of this dance through the medium of dark humor. The film confronts the absurdity of life and the pain associated with it, while remaining wondrously life-affirming despite the harshness of its themes. Following his feature film debut Goodbye Stranger (2023), Dutch filmmaker Aaron Rookus' "Idyllic" vignettes the interweaving of a dysfunctional family and its environment. As different as their individual lives and obstacles may be, they all have to face the biggest problem of all: life.
