Im Garten der Liebe - Konzert mit Alter Musik und Kunstpräsentation

In the organizer's words:

Music by C. Monteverdi, G.P. da Palestrina, M. Franck - Paintings by Titian, H. Bosch, M. Chagall and others.

Plants, fruit and a garden - in the Song of Songs, man and woman express their love and mutual attraction in a pictorial language. The biblical text has served as a source of inspiration for painters and composers for centuries. Some of their works will come together in the Vokalensemble 1600 concert.

Compositions on the Song of Songs and madrigals by Monteverdi will be heard as well as the love songs (Mīlas dziemas) by the contemporary Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks. The selected works of art also span from the 15th to the 21st century.

The Vokalensemble 1600 under the direction of Christoph Garbe will perform a capella accompanied by theorbists Helmut Weigl and Jochen Schnapka.

Free admission, donations are requested.

The event is sponsored by the Cultural Department of the City of Munich.
