West Bank, 1988: When young Noor (Muhammad Abed Elrahman) is seriously injured during a demonstration, his mother Hanan (Cherien Dabis) begins to tell the moving story of her family. The story leads back to 1948, when Noor's grandfather Sharif (Adam Bakri) refuses to leave Jaffa in order to protect his house and the orange grove. But war, expulsion and captivity tear the family apart. Sharif's son Salim (Saleh Bakri) grows up in the shadow of his homeland, which he never really got to know. Decades later, when Noor protests against Israeli soldiers, history seems to repeat itself. But in their moment of greatest pain, Hanan and Salim make a decision in favor of humanity, giving hope for reconciliation.
