Summer, sun, vacation time - and things are boiling at the Weißes Rössl on Lake Wolfgangsee. Boss Josepha Vogelhuber is faced with several affairs of the heart. Head waiter Leopold, who is intrusively courting her, disrupts Josepha's own romantic plans, as her eyes turn to the urbane regular guest Dr. Siedler. He, in turn, suddenly only has eyes for Ottilie, daughter of the Berlin jersey manufacturer Wilhelm Gieseke. To make matters worse, a bizarre legal dispute breaks out over the patent rights to the "Apollo" shirt trousers - with Dr. Siedler as the opponent's lawyer. In the midst of these trials and tribulations, Sulzheimer Junior, the "beautiful Sigismund", appears and falls in love with Klärchen, daughter of the dreamy professor Dr. Hinzelmann. In the end, it falls to His Majesty the Emperor himself to restore calm and serenity to the general chaos around Lake Wolfgang. Or does he?
The singspiel Im weißen Rössl by Ralph Benatzky has been one of the immortal classics of the operetta stage since its Berlin premiere in November 1930. With a libretto by revue specialist Erik Charell that is as fast-paced as it is witty and melodies that are immediately catchy, the play quickly conquered the stages in London, Paris and New York. Although Benatzky was later unable to build on this success, Das Weiße Rössl remains a masterpiece of musical entertainment theater - after The Merry Widow (2023) and The Fairy Tale at the Grand Hôtel (2024), director Tristan Braun presents his third directorial work at the Mainfranken Theater with Das Weiße Rössl .
