In Conversation: Jeff Wall

In the organizer's words:

Jeff Wall develops large-format photographic works that combine conceptual rigor with the visual language of painting and cinema. His often staged and precisely composed images range from digital montages and luminous slides to black-and-white and inkjet prints. Drawing on art historical, literary and contemporary references, Wall addresses violence, memory and the everyday in formats that he himself describes as "cinematography" and "near documentary".

He is considered a key figure in the recognition of color photography as an art form in its own right and was awarded the Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography (2006) and the Audain Prize for Lifetime Achievement (2008). His work has been exhibited internationally, including at MoMA New York, the Tate Modern London, the Deutsche Guggenheim Berlin and the Art Institute of Chicago.

The talk will be held in English.

Free admission.

The event will take place in the Aktionsraum. Entrance is via Invalidenstraße, to the right of the main entrance.
