The city is a phantasmagorical result of digital design processes. Dom Cobb is a gifted thief. His profession: "extraction". Cobb steals secrets from the depths of the subconscious - when the mind is at its most vulnerable: during the dream phase. Thanks to his talent, Cobb is highly sought after in the world of industrial espionage, but is also wanted all over the world - and has lost everything he loved. One day, he is given the chance to save himself: one last assignment could help him return to his old life. The condition: He must achieve the impossible, namely a so-called "inception". Cobb and his team of specialists are to implant an idea into a person. Christopher Nolan's film is a classic of sophisticated Hollywood cinema - and an investigation into the possibilities of architectural design. The dream worlds into which Cobb and his team immerse themselves have to be designed. A young female architect helps here - as does Nolan's own fascination with the process of architectural and urban design.
