Innovativ – nachhaltiges Produktdesign. Kabinettausstellung im Städtischen Museum

In a new cabinet exhibition, the Städtisches Museum in the Haus am Löwenwall is now presenting innovative trends in current product design. "Thanks to generous donations, we are delighted to be able to present some exciting developments in design. It's all about conserving resources, sustainability and fair production conditions," explains curator Dr. Andreas Büttner.

The exhibition focuses on plates, bowls, mugs, vases and other porcelain products from the young, award-winning design label MAOMI from Mannheim. The pieces impress with their reduced, powerful design language. In addition, designer and company founder Uta Meeder attaches great importance to traditional manufacturing techniques and fair production conditions.

The topic of upcycling, i.e. the creative reuse of objects that have lost their function, is explained using the example of the so-called Jägermeister cups, which the Swedish glass artist Leif Hauge makes from old bottles of the famous liqueur.

Elisabeth Krampe's chain objects made from hundreds of folded sheets of paper explore the boundary between free art and utilitarian object. Her chain objects, reminiscent of baroque millstone collars, initially appear to be pure works of art. Only at second glance does their function as necklaces become apparent.
