When the Cargo Theater began researching this project in collaboration with artists from Peru, the group made a surprising discovery on the roof of an interview partner in Lima: a unique and extensive archive had been carefully created here over decades.

The stories behind the diverse exhibits, which have been preserved in overflowing shelves and dusty preserving jars, are all linked in different ways by the same question: What are the consequences of anthropogenic interventions in the cycles of this planet?

In the theater performance "Intercambios", the audience is guided through the reconstructed archive and the imaginative world of German-Peruvian Soledad Bauer, who describes herself as a "collector of dying things". A journey through various microcosms in which insects write manifestos and plants call on their idle viewers to take action.

Intercambios was first performed at Teatro Yuyachkani in Lima in 2019. Invited to the festival 6 Tage Frei in Stuttgart and the Favoriten Festival Dortmund.
