ISLANDMAN

In the organizer's words:

ISLANDMAN
26.10.25 | 20:00 | Hall

Islandman reinterprets the deeply rooted forms of expression of Anatolian music through contemporary sound design and combines the melodies of the ancestors with modern compositions. For Islandman, Anatolia is not a relic of the past, but a living cultural memory that evolves with the present. Instead of preserving the tradition in a fixed form, they let it breathe, expand and grow naturally into today's sound world. Their approach leads to what they call Neo-Turkish Psychedelia - not a reinvention, but a continuation: a way to let Turkish psychedelic music live on, mature and speak in the language of today.

Born from the imagination of Tolga Böyük, Islandman gradually transformed into a trio, complemented by the psychedelic guitar work of Erdem Başer and the meditative percussion of Eralp Güven. As a sound collective without fixed boundaries, their live performances unfold at the interface of acoustics and electronics: part ceremony, part dance floor, often thoughtful, always rousing.

Her fifth studio album Island5, released in the fall of 2025, is Islandman's most detailed and refined narrative to date. Channeling the multi-layered spirit of Istanbul, the album reflects the group's inner evolution in aesthetic and process. This new soundscape - described as Neo-Turkish Psychedelia - retains the group's established musical codes: ambient textures, modal scales and ceremonial percussion, but also a richer sonic architecture informed by analog synthesizers.
