"It's coming on Christmas" is the first line of Joni Mitchell's Christmas classic "River". The Joni Project from Hamburg return to the Spiegelzelt with a very special Christmas program. Following their acclaimed concert between the years last December, the three exceptional musicians are bringing a Christmas pop special specially arranged for Bielefeld to the stage. Known for their masterful interpretation of the eternally beautiful songs of Joni Mitchell, they are now also devoting themselves to wintery Christmas songs by Leonard Cohen, Simon & Garfunkel, James Taylor, Tori Amos and the Beatles. Contemplative, upbeat Christmas pop, Christmas classics and winter songs, presented with sparkle and glitter and virtuosity, with plenty of soul and humor.

The three musicians tell the beautiful, sad and often very funny stories behind legendary songs such as "Hallelujah", "River", "Here Comes The Sun" and "Both Sides Now". And watch out: This Christmas special is interactive. Singing along is highly encouraged!

Three women and 16 instruments on stage

A real female supergroup. Anne de Wolff, known for her collaborations with BAP, Bosse, Calexico and Johannes Oerding, is THE German multi-instrumentalist. Her string arrangements enhance countless German pop productions. Stefanie Hempel is best known as a Hamburg Beatles expert and brilliant interpreter of the Fab Four. She regularly welcomes stars such as Otto Waalkes, Udo Lindenberg and Inga Rumpf to her big Beatles shows. Even King Charles and Camilla have invited Stefanie for a Beatles serenade. Dutch singer-songwriter Iris Romen brings in sounds ranging from country and rock 'n' roll to swing and jazz. With strong solo voices and soulful harmony singing. The Joni Project make colorful legendary songs their own with a richly coordinated instrumentation of guitar, bass and lap steel, violin, saz and cello, piano, harmonium or vibraphone. With their incomparable chemistry, Anne, Stefanie and Iris bring pop history to life. Their feel for the music and its stories is instantly conveyed.
