British singer, songwriter and film composer James Harries returns this fall with Love & Desire, a bold, emotionally charged album that opens a new chapter in his ever-evolving sound. Inspired by an overexposed photograph taken by his young son with a long-lost film camera, the album is a celebration of imperfection, spontaneity and soul.
"This album was made by letting go," says Harries. "We didn't strive for perfection, we just got some friends together, pressed record and tried to create something that felt honest."
Recorded in just three days with a group of musician friends, Love & Desire trades routine production for warmth and intimacy. Harries' unmistakable voice glides over expansive, organic arrangements. "Shivers Down My Spine" is reminiscent of early Van Morrison, "I Want Out" of indie-folk by Big Thief, while "Paris" brims with folk-pop charm. The result is a record that feels awake, direct and very much alive.
The first single "Shivers Down My Spine" will be released on June 20th, the full album will follow in October 2025, just before his European tour, which will take Harries back to the place where he feels most at home...the stage.
Hailing from Manchester and splitting his time between the UK and the Czech Republic, Harries has earned a reputation as one of the most captivating live performers on the scene. Over two decades, he has toured both solo and with band across the UK, Europe, the US and Asia, sharing stages with a diverse range of artists including Jamie Cullum, Glen Hansard, Oh Wonder, Fairport Convention, Wayne Shorter, Stewart Lee and many more...
Known for his authentic connection with audiences and his ability to write songs that can be both upbeat and soothing, James Harrie's music reflects his life's journey. With millions of streams and a loyal fan base across Europe, he is a storyteller in whose voice honesty is clearly evident. Listeners are captivated by his songs and feel a personal closeness and humanity.
