As part of the Jazz Fest Passau 2025
Four guys show that Brazil belongs in Bavaria (or Bavaria belongs in Brazil, as they proved in São Paulo, Curitiba and Chapecó in 2019). Coming from different styles, the musicians are captivated by the virtuosity and good humor of choro music. Henrique de Miranda Rebouças, born in Brazil, left his wonderful homeland and settled in Munich. Despite his authentic and original playing style, he does not shy away from local folk music influences and thus also demonstrates the diversity and openness of his own culture.
Ludwig and Xaver Himpsl came into contact with the choro very early on through their band "Unterbiberger Hofmusik" via the Brazilian jazz trumpeter Claudio Roditi (Dizzy Gillespie, Arturo Sandoval) and, thanks to their family background, provide the Bavarian breeding ground. Our half-Bavarian half-Portuguese Luís Maria Hölzl carries the cultural connection in his name and finds the joy and lightness in choro music that he finds lacking in Portuguese fado.
The result is a band with extremely interesting ingredients. Traditional choros with Bavarian sounds: Bavaschôro is a guarantee for virtuosity, variety in sound and fun making and listening to music
