In 'Mercury Rising', the Dutch-Swedish choreographer and dancer Jefta van Dinther explores language in all its forms. Together with Dawn Jani Birley, Rita Mazza and Lukas Malkowski, he creates a performance that connects old and future, non-linear languages with one another like a map. In the field of tension between communication, gesture and body, the body becomes the place where meaning is created, disintegrates and is formed anew.

The audience is invited to interpret signs - and at the same time experiences how uncertain every translation remains. With the use of different sign languages and designed for both deaf and hearing viewers, 'Mercury Rising' makes it tangible how complex human communication can be. In the end, what remains is not certainty, but the realization that we never understand everything - and yet we are always seeking connection.
