JISR meets Voyager Quartet

In the organizer's words:

A Christmas concert between sand and snow with Schubert's Winterreise, classical masterpieces and much more.

The magic of music knows no boundaries, it connects people across cultures in its very own way. We invite you on a sonorous journey through wintry landscapes, oriental colors and classical masterpieces.

The first part will feature Franz Schubert's Winterreise, a moving song cycle from the Romantic period that captures loneliness, longing and wandering through frosty landscapes of the soul in music. The poems by Wilhelm Müller are reinterpreted in Arabic, among other things, accompanied by the Voyager Quartet.

In the second part, the program opens up in all directions: Works from the baroque, classical and modern periods, from Mozart to Kurt Weill, meet the timbres of trumpet, accordion and vibraphone. Musicians from the JISR ensemble contribute their musical roots from North Africa, the Middle East and Europe and open up new perspectives on familiar melodies.

An evening that builds bridges between times, styles and worlds, between snow and sand.
