The ensemble of Mohcine Ramdan, Moroccan music globetrotter from Munich, with transcultural music that opens up worlds.

JISR جسر (Arabic for "bridge") unleashes the full power of transnational music in its concerts. Here, jazz harmonies meet Saharan blues, West African Bantu traditions meet Arabic classical music, and the Arabic oud gets lost in Indian rhythms. The quintet is led by charismatic linguist, singer, percussionist and gembri player Mohcine Ramdan, who was last a guest at the 2023 Summer Festival at Kampnagel.

With the new album "Hasra" - Arabic for "bittersweet longing" - JISR presents a manifesto of longing, encounters and hope. Created on an intensive journey through Morocco, it combines the urban soundscapes of Casablanca with the voices and rhythms of the Sahara to create a work that transcends all categories. Music that reflects migration, identity and transformation as a lived reality - and transforms them into a cosmopolitan sound of magnetic power.
