Joe & The Crazy PandemiXX feat. Hubert Winter & Michael Flügel

On September 18, 2025, the Z87 cellar will once again become a stage for the finest jazz sounds when Joe & The Crazy PandemiXX invite you to the next edition of their concert series. Host and bandleader Joe Krieg, guitarist and creative mind behind the format, will be presenting two exceptional artists from the German jazz scene: Hubert Winter and Michael Flügel.

Hubert Winter - The saxophonist from Mainz began his musical journey in Würzburg, where he studied jazz saxophone at the conservatory. This was followed by formative years in New York City, where he learned from greats such as George Garzone, Billy Harper and Dave Liebman. Today, Winter himself is a professor at the Würzburg University of Music and is a sought-after musician and composer with an international reputation. With appearances in 17 countries and over 25 recordings, he is one of the leading lights of the German jazz scene. His versatility has earned him numerous awards, including the Bavarian Art Prize and first prize at the international composition competition. Musically, he has worked with Richie Beirach, Randy Brecker, Jerry Bergonzi and Michael Wollny, among others. Winter's playing is an experience of emotional depth and technical brilliance - a guarantee for extraordinary musical moments.

Michael Flügel, pianist from Fürth, began playing the piano at the age of six and studied jazz piano in Hanover and Würzburg. He impressed early on with his sensitive yet powerful playing, which took him to international stages - for example with Enrico Rava, Tim Hagans, Ack van Rooyen and Leszek Żądło. Since 2006, Flügel has been a permanent member of the Tony Lakatos Quintet, with whom he regularly performs at the Jazzkeller Frankfurt and at renowned festivals in Switzerland, Austria and Hungary. His music is characterized by sophistication, dynamics and an impressive stylistic range.

"Joe & The Crazy Pandemixx" stands for top-class jazz evenings with exciting line-ups, musical dialog and creative energy. The evening at Z87 promises to be another feast for all jazz lovers - full of surprises, improvisation and passion.
