Joscho Stephan Trio

Joscho Stephan has shaped modern gypsy swing like no other with his playing: With his authentic tone, harmonic sophistication and rhythmic flair, but above all with his breathtaking solo technique, Stephan has earned himself an outstanding reputation on the international guitar scene. Like no other, he knows how to stand out from the multitude of current Gypsy Swing adaptations by combining Gypsy Swing with Latin, classical and rock alongside numerous interpretations of the genre's well-known classics.

His debut album "Swinging Strings" was voted CD of the month by the American trade magazine "Guitar Player" in 1999. The renowned "Acoustic Guitar Magazine" celebrated Joscho Stephan as a guarantor for the future of gypsy jazz guitar back in 2004. For the CD "Guitar Heroes" in 2015, he was able to win guitar greats such as Bireli Lagrène, Stochelo Rosenberg and Tommy Emmanuel as guests. The 2018 production "Paris - Berlin" was released as a limited "Direct to Disc" vinyl, recorded in the legendary Hansa Studios (where David Bowie's "Heroes" was recorded, among others). A total of 4 of Joscho's albums were nominated for the German Record Critics' Award. In the meantime, Joscho himself has become a sought-after guest and has contributed to the current albums of Peter Kraus and Daniel Hope, among others. At the invitation of George Benson, he took part in the "Breezin with the Stars" Guitar Camp in 2025, together with George Benson, Steve Lukather, Lee Ritenour, John Scofield and other guitar greats.

He has been touring as a trio with Volker Kamp (double bass) and Sven Jungbeck (rhythm guitar) for several years. In addition to the videos on the very successful YouTube channel (approx. 40 million views and 160,000 subscribers), the trio can of course also be seen live on a regular basis.

In addition to appearances throughout Germany and Europe (Italy, Spain, France, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Luxembourg, etc.), the formation is also on tour in the USA (California tour in May 2025, West Coast tour in June 2025). A highlight will certainly be the tour of Australia in November 2025.

The band has not been idle in the studio either, the new album contains many of their own tracks and also features fantastic guests Tommy Emmanuel, Matteo Mancuso, Jerry Douglas and John Petrucci. In spring, the trio will present tracks from the new CD on an extensive live tour in Germany.
