The choir and orchestra of the Bürger-Sänger-Zunft (BSZ, founded in 1840) have been contributing to Munich's cultural life with their concerts - from classical to modern - for many decades.
This year's anniversary concert "185 years of the Citizens' Singers' Guild" will feature two highlights from the world of music: The Mozart Requiem - a stirring and moving masterpiece that touches the soul deeply. This also commemorates the 150th anniversary of the death of Konrad Max Kunz, former artistic director and composer of the Bavarian anthem.
Beethoven's Choral Fantasy, also known as the "Little Ninth", occupies a special place in the composer's oeuvre. It combines the virtuosity of a piano concerto with choral symphonic music and leads from a sombre beginning to a jubilant conclusion that celebrates life and art, thus appropriately rounding off the anniversary concert.
The Bürger-Sänger-Zunft will perform the two works together with the Chorgemeinschaft Vaterstetten. Both ensembles have invited other singers and musicians to sing and play in the run-up to this project.
