40 years of "Hello Music": Anniversary concert "More Than Words"

The Kiel pop and jazz choir Hello Music is celebrating its 40th anniversary and invites you to a special concert evening at the Hebbelschule Kiel on May 8 at 7 pm.

Under the motto "More Than Words", the audience can look forward to a top-class double concert together with the internationally successful Danish pop a cappella choir Local Vocal.

Hello Music was founded in 1986 by Claus Merdingen, then a music teacher at Kronshagen secondary school. The choir soon made a name for itself beyond the region: Top placings in national choir competitions, its own CD productions and numerous acclaimed concert appearances ensured rapid success and a steadily growing fan base.

After the 25-year era of Claus Merdingen, there were several changes of choirmaster. Hello Music has been singing under the direction of Björn Mummert since 2017. He shapes the sound of the ensemble with his own pop and jazz arrangements, among other things, which he literally writes "to the body" of the singers. The repertoire is as varied as it is entertaining - from ABBA's "Dancing Queen" to Billie Eilish's "I Love You" and a very own version of The White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army" in swing guise.

An international highlight of the evening is provided by the Danish choir Local Vocal. The ensemble raises modern rhythmic a cappella singing to a new level and delights with its characteristic "Nordic vocal sound". More than 17,000

subscribers on YouTube, international concert tours and numerous awards speak for themselves. With its own interpretations of current pop songs, Local Vocal brings fresh sound colors and great stage energy to Kiel.

After the concert, all visitors are invited to round off the anniversary evening together with Hello Music at a small party.
