Julia Kadel is one of the outstanding jazz personalities of her generation. She is active throughout Europe in numerous projects as a pianist, composer and improviser and is in demand at major concert halls, jazz clubs and international festivals. Kadel explores the possibilities of expression through her playing and a conceptual approach to her music in order to share the themes of everyday life with the audience.

Since 2022 Julia has been playing with the German-Greek contrabassist Athina Kontou and the American drummer Devin Gray. The trio thus soars to new sound horizons with a characteristic repertoire and an open, curious spirit that allows the three strong musical personalities to interact on multidimensional levels.

"Powerful Vulnerability", the Julia Kadel Trio's fourth album, was released in 2023. The album attracted a lot of attention in the media. "Powerful Vulnerability" was produced at the famous Hansa Studios in Berlin and is the debut album of the new Kadel trio. This concept album explores the potential of vulnerability within a society that often promotes competition and conflict rather than a deeper connection with one another.

Kadel is committed to community work as a member of the new Future Bloom initiative, a festival network with an intersectional focus. In 2021, Kadel founded the Queer Cheer Community for "Jazz" and Improvised Music Germany, which organizes festivals to promote queer artists and spaces. Queer Cheer was awarded the German Jazz Prize 2023.
