"Junge Szene Jazz": Quartertone

The young saxophonist Darius Blair , who was awarded the Frankfurt Jazz Prize in 2020, will be playing with his quartet this evening. Born in Wiesbaden, Darius graduated from high school in 2021 and is already an exceptional talent with a clear musical profile. He has already completed several international tours with the Hessen State Youth Jazz Orchestra "Kicks and Sticks" and began his studies at the Mainz University of Music at the age of 16 and has since graduated.
In a fresh mix between the sound of the "black tradition" and contemporary complexity, the band plays as yet unrecorded original compositions as well as interesting arrangements of jazz standards. The focus is on the personalities of the individual musicians and their joint improvisation full of joy and virtuosity.
