A concert evening with "Käthe Blanche" is just the thing for anyone who loves the smell of freshly baked bread, prefers to watch Arte rather than RTL2 and avoids sticking linoleum over old floorboards. This is exactly what it sounds like when Katja "Käthe" Friedenberg (vocals), Thomas Höhl (piano) and Axel Müller (saxophone & other) make music together.
The trio is united by a long-standing friendship, a love of handmade music - and a good dose of quirky humor. They wander through pop, jazz and chanson without blinkers, mix German, English and French songs and surprise with tasteful arrangements, playful lightness and an infectious energy. Their carte blanche means: sterile streaming music was yesterday - tonight is Käthe Blanche.
Katja's clear voice has classical roots and became known throughout Germany in the first season of "The Voice of Germany" at the latest. Today, as a studio singer on "Sing meinen Song - Das Tauschkonzert", she lends her brilliance to the songs of many stars and is on stage as a backing singer with Tim Bendzko and Mary Roos, among others. In Mannheim, Katja is also known from her guest appearances at the Capitol or the Schatzkistl.
Thomas, the virtuoso from Kassel, inspires on the piano with effortless, cross-style playing. As a versatile composer of film and media music, he knows how to create touching soundscapes. Artists such as the celebrated tenor Jonas Kaufmann and Gregor Meyle rely on his experience - whether as a pianist, arranger or musical director.
Axel has been through it all: whether street music in St. Tropez, jazz studies in Mannheim, appearances at the Wacken Open Air or the Waldbühne - he tours the country as a sought-after saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist with renowned acts such as Gregor Meyle or Wolfgang Niedecken's BAP. He is also a studio musician and arranger in the brass section of "Sing meinen Song - Das Tauschkonzert".
