In 2022, four Sudanese filmmakers, together with a British director, began filming the lives and dreams of five different people in Khartoum: an administrative worker, a tea seller, a volunteer in the resistance committee and two street boys - all in search of freedom. At the start of filming, the Sudanese faced a military leadership that had overthrown the previous civilian government. Shortly afterwards, war broke out, displacing over ten million people. The filmmakers and their protagonists fled to East Africa but continued their cinematic project, combining animation, green screen reconstructions and documentary dream worlds to tell their stories.

In 2022, four Sudanese filmmakers, along with a British director, began filming the lives and dreams of five very different citizens in Khartoum: a civil servant, a tea lady, a resistance committee vol- unteer, and two street boys all in search of freedom. When filming started, the Sudanese were faced with a military leadership that had brought down the previous civilian government. Soon, however, war broke out displacing over ten million people. The filmmakers and protagonists escaped to East Africa but continued their innovative cinematic storytelling, combining animation, green screen reconstructions, and documentary 'dreamscapes' to tell their stories.
