Remo was once a celebrated jockey. But his excessive lifestyle and debts to the mafia threaten to destroy both his career and his relationship with his girlfriend Abril. On the day of his planned comeback, he not only loses the race after a serious fall, but also his memory. Freed from his past, but with plenty of style, he wanders through the colorful streets of Buenos Aires and develops a new identity: Remo becomes Dolores. Gangster boss Sirena doesn't care about this, however, because what interests him most is his money. And so his bizarre gang does everything it can to track him down. A curious chase takes its course...

Director Luis Ortega (THE BLACK ANGEL) stages a surreal mix of mafia thriller and absurd tragicomedy - somewhere between Wes Anderson's meticulous aesthetics and Giorgios Lanthimos' quirky existentialism. With the unmistakable visual language of Kaurismäki's regular cinematographer Timo Salminen, the brilliant performances of Nahuel Pérez Biscayart (PERSIAN HOURS, 120 BPM) and Úrsula Corberó (HOUSE OF MONEY, THE DAY OF THE JACKAL) as well as its unique style and humor, KILL THE JOCKEY is an extravagant ode to new beginnings.

The film celebrated its world premiere in competition at the 81st Venice Film Festival and was Argentina's entry for the 2025 Oscars.
