Prussia and the warehouse, how does that fit together? The context for the three-part "Prussian Film Series" is provided by the Landschaftsverband Osnabrücker Land e.V. together with the University of Osnabrück from September 25 to 27 with the conference "Prussia and Osnabrück. A History of Relations". It will not only be framed by a top-class panel discussion, but also by three exciting film classics.

The famous DEFA film DER UNTERTAN by director Wolfgang Staudte, based on the novel of the same name by Heinrich Mann. The "Filmdienst" describes this satire as a "fascinating character study of a career-seeking opportunist and reactionary" and as a "sharp political attack on the old Prussian spirit, which denounces all forms of state totalitarianism under the guise of historical retrospection". The main character is an authority-mad, fawning careerist. DER UNTERTAN is also extremely rewarding from an artistic point of view; among other things, Staudte plays with the great vocabulary of important Russian directors such as Sergei Eisenstein.
