KINO: Hans Scharoun im Fokus – Reihe: Filmclub Baukultur meets Lagerhalle

Hans Scharoun is one of the most important representatives of modern architecture in Germany. Together with the Scharoun Gesellschaft and the Lagerhalle, the Verein für Baukultur is showing three documentary films about the work and attitude of the architect, who understood architecture as an "organ of fulfillment of the processes taking place in it" with his very own approach - "organic functionalism". With iconic buildings such as the Berlin Philharmonie and the Berlin State Library, Scharoun created milestones that gained worldwide recognition.

A highlight of the evening is the screening of the last film about and with Hans Scharoun, made by Dutch director George Sluizer. This cinematic contemporary document was long considered lost and only resurfaced in 2023. Thanks to extensive digital restoration, it is now being made accessible in exceptional quality. The second chairman of the Scharoun Society, Dimitri Suchin, will speak about all three films and the circumstances of their creation. He will also be available for a discussion after the film screenings
