The KlangForum - solo! series focuses on performers from the ranks of KlangForum Heidelberg. On October 26, 2025, 6:00 pm, Johannes Mayer, tenor of the SCHOLA HEIDELBERG, will present an unusual recital at the BETRIEBSWERK Heidelberg together with J. Marc Reichow at the piano. Ekkehard Windrich takes overthe sound direction.

It is no coincidence that tenor Johannes Mayer's contribution to the series crosses some of the boundaries of the classically sung song recital - for example in the direction of an outsider opera figure by Modest Mussorgsky, into the vaudeville setting of the Five Songs by Czech avant-gardist and Nazi victim Erwin Schulhoff, into the "Spätroth" of a Günderrode setting by Wolfgang Rihm or into the vocal extreme of the "bloody" sacred mysticism of Russian avant-gardist Nicolas Obouchov. For the composition "Verbo" by Mexican composer Eduardo Partida (2019), the singer even reaches for the megaphone...

All the songs and chansons focus on the figure of the lonely in the stream - lonely in the stream of time, on the margins of society, beyond the mediocre and the sayable, and yet themselves electrified by the will to express and curiosity for sound.

The KlangForum would not be the KlangForum if it did not also allow Johannes Mayer the sonic effort of electronic playback: for example in "Parlando", a work for voice and live electronics by the Polish voice artist and composer Agata Zubel (2000), but also in his own version of a concept piece created by Karlheinz Stockhausen as early as 1965/66 as if for this concert series: "Solo". "

J. Marc Reichow also contributes the world premiere of a piano piece by Stefan Litwin dedicated to him, the title of which alludes to Brecht/Eisler's "Spruch 1939":
