The Cologne composer and specialist for historical transverse flutes presents new music on various historical transverse flutes. His piece "Palaeosounds", a combination of swan-bone flute and synthesizer, is one of the pieces to be heard. Archaic sounds of perhaps the oldest instrument in the world meet experimental sounds and nature recordings from the Neander Valley: a search for the "primal sounds".

About Norbert Rodenkirchen (born 1962 in Cologne)

Rodenkirchen studied baroque traverso and flute at the Cologne University of Music. He is at home in both early and contemporary music and has been a flautist with the internationally renowned ensemble Sequentia since 1996. He also works regularly with the Ensemble Dialogos and is active as a composer for film and theater as well as a producer. He also directs the ensemble Candens Lilium and his most recent releases include Medieval Echoes (2020), Carmina Burana Today (2021) and Hameln Anno 1284 (2022). Since 2023 he has been teaching medieval transverse flutes at the Geneva School of Music and gives international improvisation workshops.
