Wood workshop as part of the "bau1haus" exhibition
As part of the program accompanying the special exhibition in the mixing plant, families with children from the age of 10 design and build their own houses out of wood and playfully explore questions about architecture and living space.
Since 2009, Berlin-based photographer Jean Molitor has been documenting global architectural modernism on all continents - from NRW to Europe, America and India to Asmara in Eritrea. His precise visual language combines documentary accuracy with artistic aspirations and makes endangered buildings visible. The exhibition "bau1haus. Modernism from Essen to Asmara" in the impressive mixing plant at Zollverein shows around 1,000 photographs by Jean Molitor and makes the worldwide traces of architectural modernism impressively visible.
